Elaine, as you will remember, was one of the very nicest gals in our class.  I got to know her as we shared time in journalism class, and working on the school newspaper, The Iliad.  Though seemingly quiet, I found her to be quite fun-loving, and I took joy in teasing her whenever I could--and then she would "threaten" me, saying she would not type my stories for The Iliad!  Great fun...  As most of you know, after high school she married our classmate Leonard Knight and some of her earliest employment was with J.C. Penney's, where she was a co-worker with one of my aunts.  We all recognized that Elaine and Leonard had a wonderful life together, and in later years they both served on our high school reunion committee.  She was so talented, and during our 40 year reunion in 2006, she along with best friend Jacci (Fernelius) Brewer chaired the "silent auction" part of our reunion, with great success.  She is greatly missed--and even now I still log online, hoping to see an email message from her, as they were always entertaining and offering personal encouragement.
